Diffuse

I'm back with a new outfit post.  Don't all cheer at once.  It's the first one in absolutely forever, I know.  This time around, I'm getting a bit sporty for spring.  In this outfit, I paired the black printed tank top I got from the Peter Pilotto for Target collection (that came out a few months ago) tucked into one of my favorite pair of shorts that I own, the rust colored cut off shorts by Rag & Bone.  I belted it with a black leather belt with geometric silver buckle by Ralph Lauren, which matched the silver buckles on the black leather ankle boots I wore by Zara.  The accessories followed suit, and reflected the same black and silver color scheme, aside from the white embossed leather cap I wore by American Apparel.  I'm really liking the sporty look for spring, a trend I feel actually goes well with my wardrobe.  Spring and summer aren't my favorite seasons in terms of trends and wardrobing, but I'm growing fond of the ones that are out right now, and I'm making them suitable for my comfort level and existing personal style.  Below are a few shots of the outfit and the accessory details, that you can also see on my Lookbook here (follow me please).  All photos taken by Taylor.  =]

Art & Flea: Love for Wes

I can't recall if I've ever put up a post on here about Art & Flea...but oh well, here's one.  I used to make it a point to attend all of the Art & Flea events that are held monthly, but I managed to miss a couple recently, for whatever reason.  Even so, I was able to attend the most recent one that was held on April 24, 2014.  The theme for this one, as there is a theme each time, was "Love for Wes," a commemoration of the director and screenwriter Wes Anderson.  The warehouses where the event was held were appropriately adorned with decor reflecting the theme, and people surely dressed the part as well.  I would have dressed to fit the theme, since I am someone who typically likes to dress accordingly for an occasion, but I seriously didn't have anything that would remotely fit the bill.  All in all, I had a good time at this event, as I typically do.  Although I wasn't able to take a photo booth picture, which I usually do at these events, mainly because I was too impatient to wait in the long line for it...next time for sure.  Below are photos I took while at the event (and one of something I bought while there), that I will take time to caption later, but feel free to ask me in the comments if you have any questions about them.  All photos taken by me, aside from the one I'm in (of course).  =]

HNL Night Market - April 19, 2014

It has surely been a while since I've attended a Honolulu Night Market, an event held monthly in the Kakaako area of downtown Honolulu.  I managed to make my way there this month, however, to see what there was to see.  As usual, there were lots of great local food trucks that represented an array of diverse foods, both sweet and savory.  Entertainment was also in abundance, with live musical performances, and a fashion show in the lineup.  But being the shopaholic I am, I of course had to check out the Pinch of Salt featuring local vendors that had clothes & accessories, artwork, and other nifty things for sale.  I did end up picking something out while browsing through these vendors, that I'll share either in a future post here, or on my Instagram account.  Below are some photos I took while attending Honolulu Night Market.  All photos taken by me, aside from the one taken by Ericka Bueno (the one I'm in).  =]

Too bad someone smudged the chalkboard. Haha.

Nautical by Nature

It is very much summer time here in Hawaii, and needless to say, going to the beach is definitely a summer staple.  Therefore, I made a trip out to the beach, but instead of swimming, I wandered about exploring the shoreline (just wasn't in a swimming mood that day).  Even though it was hot out, I managed to be perfectly comfortable in the tan jeans I wore, mostly because I paired it with a tank...so it was definitely nice and breezy.  I was going for a pretty nautical look, with the thick blue and white stripes, along with the accents of tan/camel, and tried to keep my accessories true to the look as well.  I personally love nautical elements, and it's very exciting bringing them out to use for the warmer months, so I'll definitely be making lots of use of them, especially the silver seahorse necklace I'm wearing in this look...I'm absolutely in love with it.  I'm hoping to have more summer outfits, as well as beauty things to share very soon both posted here and in videos on my YouTube channel.  All photos taken by Reisha.  =]

Wood to Wear

It has surely been some time since I have put up any outfit posts here, mostly contributed to my hectic work schedule...and the fact that it has been increasingly hot, so I've been dressing breezily and comfortably recently.  Aside from that, I managed to get to get back in the swing of things in terms of busting out my wardrobe elements for the spring transitioning into summer.  For this look, I used an old chambray shirt that I removed the sleeves from, and paired it with some corduroy jodhpurs along with my wooden printed Litas by Jeffrey Campbell, which matches my Givenchy Pandora wallet perfectly.  I tried to portray a washed out kind of look, sticking with the hues of blue, beige, and tan, while also complimenting them subtly with silver accessories.  Even though it has been getting hot, this look wears comfortably since it is sleeveless and can easily be paired with shorts for a prolonged day out.  All photos taken by Zeric Villanueva.  =]

Floral Frenzy

It has definitely been a while since I've posted an outfit post here, so I sure hope to get back on it in terms of consistently getting these up.  I feel like this year was the first time I really embraced the bright colored aspect of spring as far as my wardrobe goes, and this outfit definitely expresses this.  I fell absolutely in love with the sweatshirt in the First Date print that came out in the Prabal Gurung for Target collection that came out around March (which I did a haul post and video of nearly a month ago).  After picking up this piece, I knew it would end up being one of my staple pieces during the spring, so I made it a point to wear it before the season was over.  So far, I wore this outfit at least a couple times, and even though it is a sweatshirt the fact that I paired it with shorts made it bearable in the heat.  I'm hoping to get more spring related outfit, beauty, and accessory posts out sometime soon, so definitely keep an eye out for that, as well as related videos on my YouTube channel.  All photos taken by Zeric Villanueva.  =]

Stuff I Bought: Prabal Gurung for Target Collection

I realize that this collection came out what seems like forever ago, and only remnants of it are still available in store and online (aside from ebay)...but I still wanted to share with you the couple items I picked up from yet another designer collaboration at Target.  Months ago, upon hearing of the collaboration between Prabal Gurung and Target, I was very eager to see what types of pieces this collection would encompass, especially from such a popular up and coming designer.  After seeing the lookbook pictures that Target had released, I was pretty set on only a couple of pieces that I really wanted, although there were a lot of great pieces being featured in this collection.  The two "must have" pieces I anticipated were the pullover sweatshirt in the First Date print, and the black flat sandals with the silver plaque detailing.  Since spring was still approaching at the time, I felt as though those were two great pieces that I could wear together to bring in the warmer months, and were definitely stand outs of the collection that fit my personal style.  Nonetheless, I was able to get both the pieces I wanted without much searching (and without having to wake up at the crack of dawn), since there wasn't too much madness surrounding this collection.  Aside from the two pieces I got, other ones I had interest in were the two toned cardigans, the gorgeous printed dresses, the adorable clutches, and the jewelry (that had been sold out by the time I got to look).  Overall, I was pretty pleased with the quality, selection, and range this collection shown, all of which are perfect for this spring season...and I would encourage checking it out if any of the pieces still remain at a Target near you (or if you're daring, and really want a certain piece, you can cautiously check ebay).  Below are product shots of the pieces I picked up at a couple different angles, along with detail shots of the collateral that came with the pieces (box and tag), and the haul video where I talk about these pieces that I picked up. You can be sure to see an outfit post wearing both of these items as well as an OOTD video in the near future.  All photos taken by me.  =]
