Summer Safari

Even though summer is coming to an end, it is always appropriate to dress for warmer weather here in Hawaii.  I really wanted to end off summer sort of transitioning my wardrobe with subtle elements for fall, which is what I aimed to do with this look.  For this outfit, I paired a basic white tank with these fantastic black & white geometric printed shorts that I scored from Old Navy, and just built it up from there.  Even though it was warm outside, the fact that my outfit was layered didn't seem too bothersome, as they were not heavy layers.  Elements that I feel really pulled this look together were my vintage DKNY blazer, the woven fedora I got from Old Navy, and my Alexander Wang Rocco bag.  Fall is surely approaching, and I can't wait to start dressing for that season.  All photos taken by Reisha Sakauye.  =]

Chevron Chic

Even though I have been eagerly anticipating the start of spring, I've been squeezing out every last bit of layering and the elements of winter wear in my wardrobe.  I based this outfit primarily on the long sleeved top I got by Andy South, focusing on the geometric angular detail of the downward chevron created at the bottom, a signature element of the designer.  Being an avid fan of neutrals, I didn't draw too much contrast in this look, and kept the color palette in the range of the oatmeal color as well as the black.  To accentuate the chevron detail further, I wore a square scarf by Marc Jacobs with the point facing the bottom of the long sleeved top, which also helped to keep me warm on this particularly gusty day.  I found this outfit to be very comfy yet very chic for going about completing daily tasks, and I will definitely be busting it out again when the colder months approach.  All photos taken by Zeric Villanueva ... a couple more detail shots to come (that will be taken by me).  =]

Festive in the Fields

Trying to take advantage of the remaining days of winter, I wanted to make use of the festive sweater I got for Christmas from my sister...and what better way to wear it than taking a walk out in the fields.  On a day out running errands and such, my cousin Rowena and I made a stop near some farmland to take in the sunset and the lovely breeze.  Since the breeze carried a slight chill, wearing a sweater was perfectly appropriate even though it doesn't get entirely that cold here in Hawaii.  A couple outfit pictures along with accessory shots are featured below.  Photos taken by Rowena and myself.  =]

Run In With Royalty

I know, I know...another much belated blog post.  But anyway, I had the chance to meet the lovely Lauren (Queen Of Blending) in December, and it was a fantastic time.  She was here (on Oahu, HI) visiting for her best friend's birthday, so she ended up having a meet and greet at Ala Moana center.  Upon finding out this news, you can surely bet that I screamed with excitement.  So naturally, I wanted to dress up for the occasion in what I felt was an outfit fit to meet the queen.  Nonetheless, I ended up wearing what I would typically wear to a day at the mall, and it turned out just fine.  Lauren is AMAZING to say the least, and her eye look matched the orchid lei she had on that day.  There are a couple of pictures of when I got to hang out with her down below, as well as my outfit shots from that day.  Photos taken by Rowena, and other people that were at the meet and greet.  =]

Balenciaga Baby

I have always been fond of the look and craftsmanship of the Balenciaga leather goods, but it always seemed to be something that was far out of range in terms of price and accessibility.  However, a Balenciaga store opened up at the Ala Moana center this fall, which made me eager to see the selection they had, and opened my mind to picking up one of their pieces.  Having gone in a couple times to view the items the Balenciaga store had to offer, I never really showed any interest in anything they had on display.  Although after looking online a bit on the Balenciaga website, I had grown an attraction to the leather bracelets they have, particularly the gorgeous neutral colored ones that would suit everything in my wardrobe.  Keeping this in mind, I had my heart set on the giant silver hardware leather bracelet in latte, that seemed to be utter perfection in terms of color versatility.  Knowing the specific bracelet I wanted, I went in to the Balenciaga store once more, and asked to see their selection of leather bracelets since they only had a few color varieties out on display, and sure enough found the leather bracelet in latte with the giant silver hardware.  I was instantly in love, so I asked to try it on, and was completely sold.  It was definitely an impulsive splurge purchase, but completely worth it in my eyes.  Below are several shots of my Balenciaga bracelet, along with shots of the other bits and pieces that came packaged along with it.  All photos were taken by me.  This bracelet and more are available at balenciaga.com  =]
